Longview, WA - Expansion

July 10th, 2015 (Longview, WA USA) Bell Lumber & Pole Company is pleased to announce it has strategically purchased a 31 acre site in Longview, WA to expand its business.

Located 50 miles north of Portland, OR on I-5 in southwestern Washington, this property sits in the heart of Bell’s Coastal Douglas fir wood procurement activities, a key region for both public and private timberland activities.  The facility is ideally located between Bell’s current Conway, WA and Lebanon, OR peeling facilities.  This location also possesses access to the BNSF and Union Pacific railroads that provides rail connections to serve Bell’s New Brighton, MN, Sidney, NE and other partner treating plants.  In its first phase of development, Bell anticipates utilizing the site for logistics, pole peeling operations.

This manufacturing and distribution facility is a long-term commitment by Bell to the economic development of the Longview, WA area and will add numerous direct jobs plus many other support and contractor related opportunities within the region.  Longview Mayor Don Jensen shared “Bell Lumber & Pole looks to be a great company and a great fit for the Longview community.  We are particularly pleased that their expansion plans will take place at the Mint Farm Industrial Park.  We look forward to a long and prosperous future for their operations in Longview.” Ted Sprague of the Cowlitz Economic Development Council adds “The Cowlitz Economic Development Council is excited to welcome Bell Lumber and Pole to our community.  The long and successful history of this company is impressive and will bring welcome jobs to families in Longview and Cowlitz County.”

“We are very fortunate to find and acquire such a strategic property.  We look forward to operating in this Western Washington area and are excited for the opportunity to bring more employees and their families into the Bell family,” shared Tom Bell, President and Owner.  “We are thrilled about becoming even more of a direct contributor and participant in the area’s timber markets and programs.”

Bell plans to start site development activities in the 4th quarter of 2015 and be fully operational in 2016.
