Truck Driver

Longview, WA

 This position will be driving a specialized log truck designed to haul long poles, up to 105 feet.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Requirements:

· Must have two or more years of hauling logs and one year minimum of hauling long poles.

· Experience hauling up to 105 feet poles.

· High School Diploma or equivalent.

· General truck maintenance and repair knowledge is a must.

· Clean DMV report and safe work practices.

- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required

Preferred Requirements:

· Knowledge of general pole quality preferred.

· Experience with self-loaders/heavy equipment operators preferred.

Experience:

· Maintains pertinent documents.

· Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations.

· Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.

· Assists in maintenance, service of the trucks, yard and support equipment as required.

· Drives trucks to destination, including during adverse weather conditions and emergency storm response.

· Responsible for correct quantities, sizes, and types to match shipping and receiving tickets to ensure accurate inventory. Ensures load tickets are signed, dated, and submitted on time.

· Performs daily pre and post trip DOT inspections on truck, trailer, and specialty equipment.

· Checks oil, coolant, tires, connections, pins and hydraulic hoses daily.

· Performs emergency roadside repairs, such as, changing lights, small mechanical problems, hoses, and installs tire chains, etc. with guidance from supervisor.

· Properly secures cargo as per DOT regulations.

· Responsible for Safety, DOT and yard OSHA awareness.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and is occasionally required to sit, talk and hear, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, infrequently lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment characteristics are best defined as an outdoor environment with exposure to elements such as heat, cold, precipitation, and wind. Employees will have moderate exposure to noise as heard in pole production yard, including exposure to higher noise levels associated with power equipment. Employee may have light exposure to the chemicals and solutions used in treating wood.
